THANK YOU EVERYONE THAT CAME OUT TO PROFUSION EXPO 2017 IN TORONTO.
IT WAS A GREAT SUCCESS, THANK YOU VISTEK AND ELINCHROM FOR HAVING ME BE PART OF THIS AMAZING TWO DAY EVENT AND ALLOWING ME TO SHARE MY ADVICE AND KNOWLEDGE IN PORTRAITURE AND LIGHTING.
SPECIAL THANKS TO ANTHONY FROM VISTEK AND BILL FROM GNIGAMI THAT MADE EVERYTHING RUN SO SMOOTHLY. THANK YOU TO TOMMY JAMES MURPHY FOR BEING OUR MODEL FOR THE EXPO.
HERE ARE FEW OF THE SHOTS THAT WERE CREATED AT PROFUSION EXPO 2017
ALL IMAGES WERE LIT WITH THE ELB1200 AND ELB400 WITH HI-SYNC. IMAGES WERE SHOT AT f1.4 AT 1/3200s ON THE NIKON D5
So after a long wait, I finally got my hands on the Elinchrom‘s New ELB 1200s with a Pro and Action head.
From the jump, this is not your daddy’s Ranger RX. It’s light, it’s small and it’s super powerful. One thing I really like was that Elinchrom took time and designed the new ELB 1200s to survive photographers like me, they really went to town to weatherproof and create a durable product.
The heads themselves are impressive from design to weight. Sadly I couldn’t get my hands on a HS head but hopefully soon.
Check out some of the shots from my test shoot.
Special thanks to Vistek for lending me the ELB 1200s. Can’t wait to get a set of my own.

So thanks to Vistek Canada (vistek.ca) and Nikon Canada, I was able to check out both these amazing bodies … the D5 retail ready and D500 Pre-Retail so there are things that may change. The D5 releases March 24th and D500 sometime in April 2016.
From the get go to major changes just a lot of improvements on there prior body. That said the two things that stuck out for me was the AF system and the ISO ratings.
The Auto focus options just demolishes what came before, smarter and more adaptive just bananas yes I said bananas. The ISO rating goes up all the way to 3.28 Million ( most people will never go that high unless your doing recon for the army or surveillance for the police or your James Bond ) but the noise and details in the high native ISO ratings up to ISO10000 was ridiculous. The D5 is a 20.8mpx FX camera.
I’m not a video guy but both bodies do 4K UHD and downsampled if needed.
For my needs the D5 would be an amazing upgrade from my current D5 if I was looking to upgrade, Ill wait til the D6 or D7 comes out.
